Jeff Nicholls

Jeff has over 20 years experience as a Town Planner since graduating from The University of Queensland with a Masters degree in Urban and Regional Planning. Jeff prides himself on providing exceptional planning and legislative advice to clients. His experience covers state and local government planning frameworks and he has prepared and overseen complex and detailed development applications lodged throughout Queensland in residential, commercial, retail and industrial sectors as well as community/special purpose facilities, infrastructure projects and environmentally relevant activities.

Jeff is also entrusted by his clients to attend mediations and give expert evidence on planning matters in the Planning & Environment Court.

Since commencing Jeff Nicholls Town Planning in 2015, Jeff has continued to grow his client base and deliver successful outcomes for his clients and their projects.

David Nicholls

David Nicholls, the former leader of HopgoodGanim Lawyers’ Planning and Environment practice, now consults with Jeff NichollsTown Planning. David holds the degrees of Master of Laws majoring in environmental law from Queensland University of Technology and Bachelor of Arts and Laws from the University of Queensland. David has extensive experience with planning and environment litigation and provides front-end strategic advice in relation to development projects. He has been involved with many of Queensland’s significant infrastructure, residential and mixed -use projects.

David is a past president of the Queensland Environmental Law Association and also served for many years on committees and the board of the Urban Development Institute of Australia (Qld). He is now a life member of the UDIA. David has a keen academic interest in the development of planning law and was closely involved with the State Government in the development of the Planning Act 2016. David is the lead author of Planning and Development Queensland published online by Thompson Reuters, which is the leading text on Queensland’s planning law. He is recognised as a leading Planning & Development lawyer by Doyle’s Guide, Queensland 2017-2020, Chambers Asia Pacific 2018 -2020 and Best Lawyers 2017-2020.
